GREEN TECHNOLOGY |
Though traditional technology has provided an economically efficient means of production, the lack of consideration towards the coexistence with the natural world has led to the energy crisis we face today. Our current environmental situation is a result of the attempt to solve society’s unlimited wants with limited resources, without the proper consideration and understanding of the environment.
Green Technology is the means by which the transition into a clean and sustainable future can be actualized. The fundamental core behind the design, creation, and implementation of Green Technology is that the needs of the present are met without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Green Technology is simply ecologically viable in the present and the future.
With the increasing environmental awareness and technological advancement of society, many applications of Green Technology have been developed. At the forefront is the production of energy through renewable and biological methods. These alternative procedures produce energy through cleaner and more efficient technologies and with greater conservation. Examples of renewable energy sources include wind power, water power, solar energy use, biofuel and geothermal energy.
Other industries have made sustainable efforts as well. Many automobile manufacturers have proposed to introduce lines of electric vehicles within the short term. Additionally, many new building and construction projects are applying strict building codes and requirements, such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), so that they are deemed “green.”
The public consciousness has made a great shift towards sustainability. However, there is still much room for the development and implementation of Green Technology. Tech Go Green hopes to further this cause.
